Pawsitive Dog Training College was officially launched in 2018, but its roots go much deeper. What began as a hobby in 2011, when Kobus and Chantelle first started working with dogs informally, has grown into a thriving training facility renowned for its commitment to positive and effective dog training.
Since its official launch, Pawsitive has earned over 600 independent reviews on Google and has helped over 3,000 dogs across the continent. Their clients come from far and wide, with owners traveling from neighboring countries such as Botswana, Namibia, and beyond, seeking Pawsitive's expertise.
Pawsitive is recognized for its ability to rehabilitate dogs with behavioral challenges, implement effective obedience training, and offer a solution for owners who may not have the time to commit to weekly training sessions.
Their philosophy centers around balanced training, where positive reinforcement is the cornerstone of their approach. They combine humane consequences applied timeously and consistently, ensuring that every dog receives the care and attention they need in a way that’s both effective and compassionate.
Today, Pawsitive caters to nearly any training requirement in Southern Africa, making them a go-to resource for dog owners in the region who are looking to improve their dog’s behavior, build a stronger bond with their pets, or overcome specific challenges.
Chantelle is the heart and soul of Pawsitive, a passionate and skilled behaviorist whose deep connection with dogs has shaped her career. She began professionally training in 2008, later earning credentials from SADTC, the Centre of Excellence, London School of Trends, and a Level 5 Diploma (ADIP-AAB(C)) from Pet Sense College (Compass).
She specializes in puppies, fear-based behaviour, and emotional rehabilitation. ICOES registered (ID: 101-19413-3), Chantelle trains over 100 dogs a year and is renowned for her gentle yet effective methods that foster trust and confidence in dogs of all kinds.
Kobus’s journey into the world of dog training started in 2011, the same year he married Chantelle. At the time, Kobus was working in a managerial role in the finance industry, but his true passion for understanding dog psychology and training was always at the heart of his interests. While working in finance, Kobus began studying dogs as a hobby, driven by an unwavering fascination with the science behind their behaviour.
He earned a Merit Certification from the Centre of Excellence and a Level 5 Diploma (ADIP-AAB(C)) through Pet Sense (Compass). He is also a registered professional with ICOES (#101-19415-4). Kobus is known for his calm, empathetic handling style and his firm but compassionate approach with dog owners.
His focus is on complex behaviour issues including aggression, fear, anxiety, and pack integration. He guides dogs and families with tailored, science-based solutions that deliver lasting results.
Charlene's journey into dog training began in 2019 after a memorable encounter with a Great Dane sparked her passion. She completed her Dog Behaviour Diploma through the Centre of Excellence with merit and joined the Pawsitive team full-time.
Known for her calm, cheerful demeanour, she excels in obedience training and has developed a strong reputation for helping dogs with minor aggression. Charlene's positive attitude, empathy, and discipline make her a trainer both dogs and clients love working with.
Together, Chantelle, Kobus, and Charlene form an unbeatable trio with a shared vision for making the world a better place for dogs and their families. Their diversity of skills allows them to handle any challenge—from early puppy development to complex behavioural issues—while maintaining empathy and science-backed structure.
With over 30 years of combined experience, their commitment to helping dogs become calm, confident companions is what makes Pawsitive a trusted name across Southern Africa.
